CRM and RevOps

Pipeline

Pipeline is the set of active deals a team is working, organized by the stages they move through from first contact to close.

Why it matters

Pipeline is how a team sees what revenue is coming and where it might stall. It turns a pile of deals into a forecast and shows where effort is needed, whether that is more deals entering the top or stuck deals in the middle. A healthy, accurate pipeline is the basis for planning, so keeping it current is a core discipline.

How it works in practice

Pipeline organizes deals into stages, such as new, qualified, proposal, and closed, each with criteria for moving forward. Reps update a deal as it progresses, and the CRM rolls the stages and values into a forecast. Leaders read pipeline for coverage, whether there is enough in progress to hit the target, and for bottlenecks where deals pile up or drop out.

Common mistakes

A common mistake is a pipeline full of stale deals that should have been closed or dropped, which inflates the forecast. Another is inconsistent stage definitions, so the same deal means different things to different reps. A third is judging pipeline on size alone rather than on quality and movement.

How hubsell approaches it

hubsell feeds pipeline with contacts that are correct today and logs every touch to the CRM automatically, so the deals and activity behind the forecast reflect real, current work.
